I went to Cannes Lions in 2026 as credentialed press, and I came home with a very clear read on where this thing is going. So let me save you the guesswork. Here is what I think 2027 looks like, and why I am already planning for it.
The festival is not really about the awards anymore, and it has not been for a while. The work that matters is happening on the yachts, in the villas, at the dinners nobody posts about until after. 2027 is going to widen that gap. The badge gets you to Cannes. The relationships get you into the rooms that actually move your year.
Creators are going to be everywhere, and not as a novelty panel anymore. In 2026 you could already feel it. The brands that showed up smart brought creators as partners, not decoration. By 2027 the creator is going to be sitting at the table where the budget gets decided, not waiting outside for a photo. If you build brands for a living, plan your talent before you plan your booth.
The thing Cannes proved to me is that in person is now the premium. A whole industry that does business over screens all year flew to the south of France to press the flesh, hug, and remember each other as humans. That is not going away. It is getting more valuable. 2027 is going to reward the people who show up in real life and are actually good to be around.
The best rooms I found were the ones built on generosity. Smaller, curated, women pulling other women in, people sharing contacts and stages instead of guarding them. That is the model that wins next year. If you are choosing between a massive open party and a small dinner where someone actually thought about who is in the room, take the dinner every time.
So here is my honest prep list for 2027. Lock your reason for going before you book anything, because Cannes without a goal is an expensive tan. Build your calendar of dinners and side rooms before the badge, not after. Bring something to give, an intro, a stage, a real compliment, before you ask anyone for a thing. And protect your energy, because the people who burn out by Wednesday miss the whole part that mattered.
I am going back in 2027. Not for the pass. For the rooms, the women who do not gatekeep, and the work that comes from being in them. If that is you too, find me. Let's plan it right.
