Art Basel Miami Beach runs December 4 to 6, 2026 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, with VIP preview days on December 2 and 3. Miami Art Week wraps around it from November 30 through December 6. That is seven days when the whole city becomes a venue, every brand wants a moment, and most of the money spent that week disappears without a trace. We have produced through Basel since 2010. This is the honest guide we give clients who ask us what actually works.
Start with the only question that matters
Would the people you want in the room show up if there were no brand attached? If the honest answer is no, stop and rework the idea. Basel guests have twenty invitations a night. Collectors, creators, editors and brand executives are choosing between rooms, and they can tell a sponsored moment from a real one in under ten seconds. The PUMA x RS dinner we built at Le Chick in Wynwood worked because it was a yes. Fifty-plus creators came for the room and the art installation, there was no posting requirement in the brief, and 90 percent of them posted anyway. One night returned 2.3 million impressions and $366,000 in earned media value. The hashtag trended in Miami that night.
Pick the neighborhood before you pick the venue
Basel week is not one city. It is five, and each one has a different audience and a different cost.
- Miami Beach. The fair itself, the hotels along Collins Avenue and the satellite fairs. The highest concentration of collectors and press, the highest venue costs, and the hardest permits. Good for a brand that needs to be seen by the art world.
- Wynwood. Galleries, warehouses, murals and the creator crowd. Rooms feel native to the week because the neighborhood is already about art. This is where we put PUMA, and it is where we send most consumer brands first.
- Design District. Luxury retail and collector dinners. Smaller rooms, higher stakes, a guest list that has to be exactly right. Fashion, beauty and spirits brands do well here when the list is tight.
- Brickell and Downtown. Corporate hospitality, finance and tech. Less art-world energy, easier logistics, strong for client dinners and stakeholder moments.
- Little Haiti and Little River. The newer gallery scene and the most local feel. Lower costs and a crowd that rewards brands who show up with something real rather than something loud.
Timing: the calendar nobody tells you about
Tuesday December 1 and Wednesday December 2 are when the art world arrives and the calendar is still open. Thursday is the vernissage and the heaviest party night, which means the most competition for the same guests. Friday and Saturday belong to the public fair and the big brand parties. Sunday everyone is tired and leaving. For a creator dinner or a launch we push clients toward Tuesday or Wednesday evening, when a well-built room can still be the best option on someone's list. If your brand has to be in the Thursday mix, the room needs to be extraordinary, because you are competing with everyone.
Book earlier than feels reasonable
Venues, production crews, security, valet and the creators themselves book out months ahead for Basel. A good Wynwood room for the first week of December is often gone by early fall. Rates during Art Week run well above normal, and the venues that are left in November are left for a reason. If you are reading this in October with a December idea, send it anyway. There are always rooms we can open through relationships, but the options narrow every week.
What brands get wrong, every year
- Building a party instead of a reason. Open bar and a DJ is the baseline for every room in Miami that week. Give people something to look at, make or take part in. The PUMA room had a custom installation that belonged in Wynwood. That was the content.
- Filling the room with followers. Fifty creators with the right audience beats five hundred with the wrong one. We cast by trust and fit, vet through Socially Legit, and would rather leave seats empty than fill them wrong.
- Forcing the post. A posting requirement produces content that looks like a requirement. Build the room right and the posts come without asking.
- Ignoring the operations. Late credentials, a valet line around the block, product that does not arrive, a sound system that fights the conversation. Operations are a creative discipline during Basel. The brands that win treat them that way.
- Letting the moment end at the door. Same-day edits, content licensed for your own channels, and a plan for the week after. One night should feed a quarter.
What a Basel activation costs
Our intake form uses budget bands from under $25K to $150K and up. A curated creator dinner in Wynwood, a launch in the Design District and a multi-night hospitality takeover on the Beach live in very different bands, and the venue alone can move the number more than anything else. Tell us the goal and the band and we will scope the room to fit it, rather than the other way round.
If you are planning for December
Send the date you are thinking about, the audience you need in the room and what success should feel like on December 7. We reply within one business day with a point of view, not a deck. The full picture of what we build in this city lives on our Miami experiential marketing page, and the creator side on Miami influencer marketing.
